Small cars the are future and…the past

IMG_20130425_153821 IMG_20130425_153835 IMG_20130425_153846Yesterday on my travels around the sleepy seaside town of Eastbourne, I happened to come across the following vehicle – which looks like it originated from Italy in the 1960’s. For those who don’t get a good understanding of it – the car is absolutely tiny. Just thinking about climbing inside terrifies me in terms of being a claustrophobic experience.

However we all know the future of cars – is “small”. That is whether you are looking at the Japanese market and the K-cars or the new Fiat 500, small is going to be way of life for many. We shouldn’t  forget some of these defunct manufacturers who made these efficient and smart cars more than 50 years ago.

Does anyone know the history of the car in the photographs?
